If your refrigerator is more than ten years old, chances are it's about 40 percent less efficient than newer, Energy Star-qualified models and may guzzle enough power every year to light a typical household for up to four months. Fortunately, Energy Star's Recycle My Old Fridge campaign is making it even easier to replace the old icebox. In addition to walking you through recycling steps, the site also gets you motivated by doing the math on how much you stand to save by switching to a more efficient model. Check out Energy Star's refrigerator fact sheet for more fridge energy saving tips.

Do you think to produce new fridge and properly recycle old one will cost less then that 40% extra you are paying for electricity? So.. do you want to be green or just a new fridge?
