Tip of the Week
Give an Evergreen Gift
Looking for a nice gift for an office-mate or relative? Consider a simple house plant. Particularly in the winter when houses and offices are sealed up tight to keep out the cold, a house plant not only adds a bit of life and beauty to a space, it's a great air refresher too.
I learned recently that researchers found that 40 percent of all sick days are related to poor indoor air quality. Much to my surprise, the Researchers, William Fisk and Arthur Rosenfeld of the Lawrence and Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley California, also found that the presence of plants could save $58 billion per year by preventing sick-building syndrome, and save another $200 billion in improved worker performance.
I've always liked giving plants as gifts because they last a long time. It gives the gift further meaning to think that if you care for it, it will care for you.
