How We Made Our Decisions

All the products we chose had to feature ingredients lists either on the products or their web sites, are free of hazardous chemicals and synthetic fragrances, and come in recyclable packaging. Beyond that, we ranked them according to their green features. Better: These products list ingredients, but rather than using specific ingredient names, they use vague terms such as "biodegradable surfactants" and "sugar-based cleaning agents," which don’t give you an accurate picture idea of what’s inside. However, they have third-party certifications to validate their product formulations as green."Best: These products listed specific ingredients by name on packages and/or online.
