You found the perfect holiday wrapping paper, made the creases just right and topped it with a shiny ribbon. And if you're lucky, your child will delight in the silver shimmering bow before tearing hungrily through the glossy paper to the toy below. Sound familiar? Instead of wasting time, energy and paper, try placing the toy in a reusable container. Eco-Express's Kids Treasure box contains eco-friendly toys, such as a recycled rubber ducky, inside a wooden treasure box. The box can be painted and reused and makes cleanup easy and eco-friendly ($34.99 each, www.ecoexpress.com).

Kids aren't the only ones undeterred by beautiful wrapping paper. This year, try making your wrapping paper a gift itself. Gift tins are available from Allison's Gourmet, including your choice of three 6.5 oz. bags of organic nuts in any combination of five varieties ($27.95/1.2 lb. tin, www.allisonsgourmet.com). Eco-Express offers a reusable Gourmet Tea box made from bamboo, containing a variety of organic Numi teas ($27.99 for medium tea box, www.ecoexpress.com).

To wrap kitchen and baking goods, try an apron. Organic hemp and cotton aprons can be ordered from Rawganique ($19 and $39 respectively, www.rawganique.com). Or check out your local thrift store. Vintage hat boxes and picnic baskets are an ideal packaging for antiques and new gadgets alike.
