The world is addicted to oil, and the race is on to find new sources. Nowhere is the battle more intense than in Alaska—source of nearly 15 percent of America's domestic production, and home to the nation's largest wildlife preserve, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Now that neighboring oil fields are drying out, companies are pushing to drill in the ANWR. National Geographic Chanel's Explorer takes a close look at the ANWR to examine how much longer it can remain off-limits. As the planet warms and the climate in the Arctic changes, protecting this preserve against the consequences of our addiction proves increasingly difficult. Watch the world premiere tonight, March 12, at 8 PM Eastern and Pacific on the National Geographic Channel.
