- Biocide
- A pesticide typically used to kill microorganisms including mold and fungi. See Pesticides, Biopesticides
- Bisphenol-A (BPA)
- A chemical found in plastics and the lining of canned foods, from which it is known to leach into foods. BPA mimics naturally occurring hormones and may alter the development of the brain, reproductive system and other organs.
- Boric Acid
- An alternative to toxic pest-control chemicals, boric acid should still be kept away from food and out of the reach of children. If skin contact occurs, it may cause irritation. See Integrated Pest Management
- Butane
- Used as fuel in cigarette lighters and camp stoves and as a propellant in cleaning products and breath fresheners, butane is a highly flammable asphyxiant, can be a respiratory irritant when inhaled, and can cause chemical burns at high concentrations.
- Benzaldehyde
- A chemical closely related to formaldehyde. It often appears in products that claim to be “formaldehyde-free.” See Formaldehyde
