green-bedroomHaving an eco-friendly bedroom is a must have. The bedroom is where private moments should happen and it should not be just another room of the house. It should be clean, fresh, and conducive enough for sleeping, relaxing, and contemplating. One of the best ways to do this is to have a green and clean bedroom, which you might think is difficult to obtain.

Beautify your room with indoor plants – These green friends don’t only add beauty to your room, but they also help create fresher and cleaner air in the environment. Plants trap carbon dioxide and other pollutants in the air as they release cleaner oxygen in the area. Apart from that, indoor plants are renowned for its appeal, which can ultimately relieve stress. Calming indoor plants include lavender, geranium, rosemary, and orchids. These have certain scent that induces the releases of the calm hormones in our body, thereby reducing stress. Cheap and lasting, beautiful indoor plants are your sure bet to a quick and clean green bedroom.

Use eco-friendly paints – If you are the type of person, who loves to repaint the bedroom wall occasionally, make sure that you use eco-friendly paints because these do not contain high levels of volatile organic compounds. These are not also composed of toxic chemicals that can harm both the body and the environment. With eco-friendly paints, you can be assured of lasting paint that doesn’t release toxic chemicals to both air and land.

Use eco-friendly lights – The popularity of LED lights is rising, thanks to the fact that it is very efficient in converting its energy into lights instead of heat. LED lights are also popular in emitting bright white lights with the absence of ultraviolet rays, which is a common component in almost all light brands these days. Furthermore, this type of lighting system is accessible everywhere and lasting. Studies show that it is capable of emitting efficient lighting in a span of 50,000-100,000 uses. Though LEDs are typically more expensive than other types of lighting system, its advantages are worth of your every penny.

Go for green mattresses – Your bed sheets can technically play a role in your quest to obtain a green room. Those that are made of rayon, bamboo, cotton, and the likes are far safer and healthier than the usual brands of mattresses because these don’t contain chemical components.

Having an eco-friendly bedroom may not be an easy and cheap venture. For sure, it requires ample budget and time, but it is not necessarily expensive. There are thrift stores for cheap choices as well as inventory sale from department stores. Also, start small when renovating for a green bedroom, so you won’t be overwhelmed by the price.
