Although they might cost more upfront, CFLs can last up to thirteen times longer than incandescents and use 75 percent less energy, ultimately saving you money. CFLs have become increasingly more versatile, and their design has improved. Newer models come up to full brightness more quickly, as opposed to older models that flickered or blinked when turned on. There are even models that work with a dimmer switch.
